Dear Parent / Carer
As we approach the end of term, we would like to inform you of a number of events taking place before the end of term.
Christmas Services
As Christmas approaches each year group will be escorted to St Lawrence’s Church on Church Lane and the students will be dismissed directly from the church, except Year 7. If you would like to attend any of the Carol Services at St Lawrence’s Church with your child’s year group, you would be made very welcome. Some services may finish slightly earlier and students may wait in church to be collected if required. All students will receive a reward prior to going to church for their attendance on the day and when they leave church.

| Community & CCF service Wednesday 18th December |
In addition there will be a community & CCF carol service at the church on Wednesday 17th December at 4pm. We would welcome as many parents/carers and families to join us at St Lawrence’s Church for this special occasion and celebration in the build up to Christmas. Refreshments will be available afterwards at our Community Cafe. |
| Christmas Dinner Wednesday 18th December |
Christmas Lunch will be available for all students from the diner of a roast turkey meal for the usual meal price. There will be limited other items for purchase on this date. Please ensure your child has money on their meals account via ParentPay unless they are entitled to free school meals. |
| Christmas Jumper Day Friday 19th December |
Students will be able to wear Christmas jumpers if they wish to do so. Christmas jumpers must be worn along with normal academy uniform. including a blazer. A suggested minimum £1 donation should be made on Parentpay via the Donations Page which does not need a log on – please click this link |
| Last Day of Term Friday 19th December |
The academy closes for the Christmas Holidays at 12.15pm on Friday 19th December and all students will be dismissed at 12.15pm, lunch will be available for students at break time. |
| Academy Re-opens Monday 5th January 2026 |
The academy reopens to all students and students should ensure they arrive punctually by 8.15am. |
Uniform and Equipment
At the beginning of the new term, we would like to remind you to ensure that your child has the correct uniform and all their equipment each day, including full PE kit (on PE days), basic stationary and their planner. All students are required to have a planner and one was issued to all students in September, however, if your child has misplaced their planner a replacement will need to be purchased on ParentPay. If, for any reason, you are unable to purchase essential items, please contact either your child’s Head of Year or [email protected] as we may be able to offer assistance.
Attendance
I am aware that there has been an increased amount of illness around, and we very much hope that your child can be resilient and committed to their education to attend every day, as every day lost impacts their education. Rewards prizes are being given out every day during the last week of term, for 100% on the day, and also for those students who have 100% attendance all week. You have to be in to win it!
Finally, it has been an incredibly busy term with lots of exciting developments taking place across the Academy. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first term as Headteacher at The St Lawrence Academy and wanted to thank staff, students and parents for all of your support.. May I take this opportunity to wish those of you celebrating Christmas a wonderful festive time, and I hope everyone has a relaxing break.
