Dear Parents / Carers
I write to inform you of an important change to our timetable this half term.
You will obviously know that schools begin a new timetable at the beginning of the Autumn term in September. However at The St Lawrence Academy we are going to start our new timetable this half term, on 30th June.
This means that students will move into their new year groups from this date and not from September.
There are many advantages to this approach. Our current Year 10 cohort will move into Year 11 and will begin the preparation for their GCSE exams before the summer break. This means that they will know what to expect from their final year, three weeks earlier than normal and they will be able to settle into their classes much quicker in September.
Our Year 9 cohort will begin their Key Stage 4 Options subjects meaning they can begin the subjects in which they chose to specialise much earlier.
For all students it means that the beginning of the academic year in September is much more focused and productive.
We will be explaining the changes to our students in assemblies during the week commencing 9th June.
