Reporting a concern:
Where students need to report concerns they can do this both anonymously or in person to their trusted adult. Staff concerns are reported to the DSL through CPOMS. All concerns are logged and stored on CPOMS and viewed the same day.
Staff and volunteers receive annual training on the Academy’s low level concerns policy and whistleblowing policy. This supports staff and volunteers with how to manage concerns or incidents quickly and effectively.
All concerns about a member of staff should be directed to the Headteacher.
Any concerns about the Headteacher should be directed to the CEO or the Chair of Governors (please refer to our policy documents for how to do this).
Managing allegations against individuals working or volunteering with children in North Lincolnshire:
The Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) has responsibility for independent management and oversight of allegations against people who work or volunteer with children. All agencies providing services for children should have procedures in place for reporting and managing allegations against staff and volunteers.
The criteria for LADO involvement apply when an individual working or volunteering with children has:
- Behaved in a way that has harmed a child, or may have harmed a child
- Possibly committed a criminal offence against or related to a child
- Behaved towards a child or children in a way that indicates they may pose a risk of harm to children
- Behaved or may have behaved in a way that indicates they may not be suitable to work with children.
If the allegation meets any of the above criteria, the employer or agency must report it to the LADO within one working day.
