As a former student of High Ridge School, the predecessor to The St Lawrence Academy, I am proud to step into the role of SENDCo, continuing my long-standing connection with the school and the local community. Having lived in Scunthorpe for most of my life, I am deeply committed to supporting the success of students in our area. After studying at John Leggott College, I went on to earn a BA in Sociology and Social Policy from the University of Leeds, which shaped my passion for inclusive education and social equity.  Since joining The St Lawrence Academy in 2011 as a Teacher of Religious Education, I have held several leadership roles, including Achievement Team Leader and House Leader. These experiences have equipped me with the skills to support students holistically, balancing their academic, emotional, and social needs.  I am excited to lead the SEND provision at The St Lawrence Academy, working with our dedicated staff to create an inclusive environment where every student feels supported and valued.

In my previous post I was heavily involved in safeguarding, quality and raising standards and aspirations for children in care which was both challenging but very rewarding.
I am excited to be part of the team at The St Lawrence Academy and look forward to playing my part in the students and academy journey.

I am the Inclusion Manager at the Academy. This role involves ensuring our Behaviour Policy is followed fairly. It is important that students know the rules so that you can be Ready to Learn, Safe and treated with respect.

Myself and my team work hard to ensure that students feel supported and we want to help and support you.

You will see me in the corridors supporting students, so please ask if you are worried about anything or unsure where your class is.

My interests involve running and fitness along with spending time with my family (which includes my 2 sausage dogs). I would also say that my interests are helping people as I want to make a difference if I can.

I joined the predecessor school 17 years ago as part time admin support, and assisted with some finance after working in a bank for 19 years.  I have supported all the Senior Leadership Team since the start of the academy in 2008 which has been very varied work across all departments and teams.  I became the Admin and Finance Manager overseeing the admin function and team across the academy which also included processing finance and personnel. Recently I have slightly changed my role again as PA to the Headteacher and supporting SLT whilst continuing to oversee admin and personnel. In my spare time I am Treasurer for my local Scout group and enjoy meeting up with friends and spending time with my granddaughter.
