Geography Fieldwork trip to Spurn Point – 12th October 2026
Dear Parent/Carer
The St Lawrence Academy has an exciting trip available to Year 9 students to Spurn Point on the Yorkshire Coast on Monday 12th October. Students will be able to see first hand erosion landforms that they have been learning about in their Geography lessons. They will also be able to practise fieldwork skills such as drawing field sketches, measuring pebble sizes and creating a beach profile. This trip is open to all year 9 students but is especially beneficial to any student considering taking GCSE Geography as an option.
We will be leaving the academy at 8.00am and will be returning by 4pm. As it will be a very long day for all concerned, please ensure that your child has plenty of water with them and a packed lunch, there will be nowhere to buy food from on this trip. If your child is eligible for Free School Meals, lunch will be provided. As students will be outside on the coastline, they will be wearing non-school uniform and must have a waterproof jacket, sturdy shoes or trainers that are flat and closed on top with them (i.e. no ballet pumps) and a spare jumper or warm clothing. This is in order to keep students warm, dry and safe.
To cover the cost of the transport, we are asking for a voluntary donation of £15. As there are limited places available, it will be a first come, first served basis for places. Please complete the consent form via Evolve, confirming you acknowledge the arrangements for the day and giving your consent for your child’s attendance and paying via ParentPay.
Please ensure your contact details are up to date via the Arbor APP and also check that any medical conditions are accurate and up to date if your child has any. If students are asthmatic they will need to bring their inhaler on the day, if they do not bring their inhaler then unfortunately we will not be able to take them on the trip. This information will be used for staff attending the trip in case of an emergency.
